    Freedom!

July 4th, 1776. The Declaration of Independence. The Revolutionary War. What was it all about? In a word: Freedom. Freedom from Great Britain and Freedom from laws that unreasonably interfere with our life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. So, what does that have to do with Divorce and Custody law? This: The freedoms that we enjoy in America, even in the Family Law arena are not enjoyed by everyone around the world. Even those in places that we consider similar to us. For e

    Guns and Divorce

Guns are a hot topic these days. Some people love them. Some people hate them. Not too many people have no opinion on them. If you own guns or ammunition, and you are headed for a Texas divorce, here are 7 Things you need to know. Number 1. You can have big problems, even if you don’t do “anything wrong.” Most people assume that if they are legally allowed to own or possess a gun before their divorce, they are allowed to possess one during their divorce. This is often not

Bitcoin and Divorce: Is your spouse hiding money?

Going through a divorce is stressful. Sometimes, it’s very stressful. One of the stresses is the uncertainty of how much of your money you will end up with at the end of the divorce. When thinking about that issue, many people worry that their spouse may have hidden money. The thought being, “If my spouse has hidden $100,000.00 and we finish the divorce without me knowing about it, I won’t get any of that $100,000.00 and he or she will laugh all the way to the bank.” These da

    Appearance on Morning Dose TV

This week, I was interviewed by Morning Dose TV to get my opinions on January being "Divorce Month." I was very happy that as a part of the interview, I was able to get in something that I have been telling people for decades -- Divorce does not solve all of your problems; it trades one set of problems for another set of problems. #SouthlakeDivorce #DallasDivorceLawyer #FortWorthDivorce #Divorce #CollaborativeDivorce #MilitaryDivorce #Custody #EricBeal #BealLawFirm #CollinCou

The nicest thing my father ever did for me

I recently went to the funeral for one of my best friend’s father. He was a great man, and my friend and his brother both had wonderful things to say about their father. The things they said caused me to think about all of the wonderful things that my dad had done for me. I was adopted as a baby, so it’s kind of hard to top that, but my father did that and many other marvelous things for me. He taught me an incredible amount, along with my awesome mom he took care of me, and

What someone else thinks they know CAN hurt you

I listen to a lot of talk radio. Some would say too much — my wife probably among them. I like talk radio. I’ve listened to it for about 35 years. I’ve listened to stations all over the country, and I’ve listened to all types. In the early days, I would listen to general interest shows. Then I went through a period where I listened to political shows. Then came Sports Talk radio stations. There are at least three “All Sports” stations in the DFW Metroplex, and in the day and

Beal Law Firm Celebrates 25 Years!!!

May 4, 1992. The day that I began a solo practice with no money, no clients, a mountain of debt, a non-working wife, a small child, and the smallest office I could find to rent for the shortest term possible. I had worked for two of the most prestigious and most powerful firms in Dallas and the State of Texas. One was an amazing firm named Johnson & Swanson. It was the biggest firm in Dallas and one of, if not THE, best. The other was a very powerful and large plaintiff's fir
